There are many ways to learn NVivo. Here at QuotesWork we know some learners prefer a slow and gradual pace, and others want to jump in and get started as soon as they can.
After years of teaching people as much about NVivo as we could cram into 2-day in-person workshops, I wanted to present alternatives. I wanted to offer NVivo training to more participants without the expense of travel. I wanted to allow participants ample time to ask questions and to practice, ideally in their own projects.
First, we created the 4-session online Learn NVivo courses. This live online training improves access and reduces costs, compared to in-person training. The courses are specific to NVivo for Mac
or NVivo for Windows – because the programs are different, and beginners benefit by seeing the demos in the same program they will be using.
I personally believe this course format provides the best foundational training for a career in qualitative analysis using NVivo. When participants use their own data, they build skills and their NVivo project throughout the course, with the advantage of obtaining guidance from an experienced researcher and certified NVivo trainer.
But I often receive inquiries about NVivo training from people who are already familiar with NVivo. Perhaps they have learned through on demand NVivo tutorials or YouTube videos. They typically report they know the basics, but feel they are not using NVivo to its full potential. And they are always pressed for time.
To meet these needs, we created a condensed version of our 4-session Learn NVivo course,
presented in a 1-day format. Much of the content is the same, but there is less practice time and reduced time for Q&A with the instructor.
Still, this course allows the learner who is comfortable with more self-directed learning a rapid introduction to the NVivo essentials. It’s a great way to quickly get up to speed and close gaps in your NVivo knowledge.
